The Weeknd - Kiss Land

image

For anyone confused about what The Weeknd is singing about here, I’ll give you a quick synopsis. This song is literally Abel telling girls to shut the hell up, get naked, or GTFO. Said girls should also know that he’s not into making out if it doesn’t lead to some intercourse right then, as well as in the morning. Abel doesn’t sleep and can go all night (ladies take note if you find yourself back stage after a show). Of course this isn’t a new request that some artists make, but the WAY he does it is pretty unique. Maybe its his voice, or the way he sings, but it doesn’t seem like he’s being the complete douche bag he is (in this song anyway.. I don’t know him personally..so far be it from me to judge his real character)

This is the title track off his forthcoming album, Kiss Land, and it overall, is typical of The Weeknd you’d expect and have heard before. It’s still a pretty extensive track with a sweet transition at the 3:50 mark, but not groundbreaking

DJ Reflex - Body So Tight (ft Childish Gambino)

Jack of all entertainment trade Childish Gambino has resurfaced after being dark for a little while after the release of ROYALTY. With the exception of a few cameos (Flux, Kilo Kish, and the Funk Flex album(download)) he’s been relatively quiet. But this track will hopefully be the first of many new songs he’s on and comes out with since it looks like Community is done for(sadly). Anyway, this beat is tight, and Gambino is on one once again. Enjoy

Sorry For Sucking!

I have been sucking lately and need to get my act together.. Real life has gotten in the way of me delivering you fresh tunes, but I’m back on track and will be posting a ton of shit in the next day or two.. Hopefully there will be some tracks that get you out of your seat and back on the Jour Music wagon. Apologies for sucking.

T.I. , B.o.B., Kendrick Lamar - Memories Back Then ft Kris Stephens (Video)

Three of the biggest hip-hop artists alive right now put out the visuals for a catchy new collaboration track called Memories Back Then, about a few lil’ biddy’s that used to mean a lot them.. but they all BLEW IT!!! oh no!…

Track is real good, especially Kendrick’s verse, so check that shit out..

P.S.. whats good Kris Stephens?

MGMT - Alien Days

It’s been 3 years since MGMT released the follow up album to their breakout debut Oracular Spectacular. The album Congratulations largely underwhelmed most everyone, including myself. Today MGMT took to record store day to release their first track since. I’ve leave it up to you to decide what you think, but it largely reminds me of what would happen if David Bowe and My Morning Jacket did a collaboration on LSD. I expected much more from it, but I suppose this is the type of sound we should just grow to expect from MGMT now.. Album is due out in June

Florence + The Machine - Over The Love

Unless you’ve been under a rock, you’ve heard a bit about the upcoming Great Gatsby movie with Leonardo DiCaprio. What you may not have seen is how amazing and ridiculous the soundtrack will be. One of the highlights, is the just released tracks from Florence + The Machine called Over The Love. This is one of the most powerful songs I’ve heard all year and will be included on a soundtrack that also includes new tracks from Jay-Z, Beyonce & Andre 3000, will.i.am, Q Tip, Lana Del Rey, The xx, and Jack White. This is going to be a big one folks.

Frank Ocean - Lost (Video)

image

Ocean took to Tumblr today to release a video and message for one of the most chill tracks on the Channel Orange album. Lost gives us a mellow look at Frank himself with a little bit of concert footage and some crusin’ around cities. Definitely one of the more catchy tracks on an album that some, for whatever reason, may have a hard time getting into. Frank continues to be one of the most interesting and inspiration names in music.

His message? “summer 2012”… bring it on.

Mona - Goons (baby, I need it all)

image

Dayton, Ohio’s own and Kings of Leon buddies, Mona, just released a new track called Goons. I had(have) big hopes for Mona. I love their raw rock sound and I think they have the potential to be a pretty special band. They’ve only recently made their first television appearance but their sophomore album, which will likely include Goons(baby I need it all), could just jump them into the mainstream conversation.
